LRQA will be exhibiting at the Global Food Safety Conference (GFSC) which will take place on 5 March 2018 in Tokyo.

On 5 March 2018, the Global Food Safety Initiative’s (GFSI) Global Food Safety Conference (GFSC) starts in Tokyo, Japan. The GFSC is a unique annual event bringing together over 1,000 leading food safety specialists from more than 50 countries to advance food safety globally.

Organised by the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) - of which LRQA is a member - the GFSC is taking place at the Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba and runs until Thursday 8 March.

“Once again, LRQA will be exhibiting at the GFSC; with a conference theme of ‘Safe Food for Consumers Everywhere,’ this topic will resonate strongly with the many thousands of clients that we serve in the food sector alone,” said Duane Wood, LRQA Management Systems Marketing Director.

It is anticipated that the Global Food Safety Conference will address the foundational idea of leadership through trust, transparency, and technology. Various programmes centred on such themes as capacity-building, transparency and visibility in the supply chain, enhanced public-private partnerships, and leveraging technology and metrics are also on the agenda.

“Consumers want to feel safe about their food and understand where it is sourced from in terms of sustainability and provenance.   As a result, the way people are buying is changing as they are seeking levels of assurance about their food that have never been seen before,” said Wood.  “B2B providers - like LRQA - are providing new technologies and services to clients to underpin and strengthen their food safety and sustainability supply chain commitments to enable them to demonstrate this to consumers worldwide.  This shift in service - which is arguably B2B2C - is not only strengthening the supply chain, but is giving the consumer confidence that the food they are eating is not only safe but sustainably sourced.”

Organisations worldwide are proclaiming their commitment to having a strategic focus on being technologically enabled and agile. LRQA is at the forefront of embracing new technologies such as LRQA's announcement last year of the adoption of the greenfence™ platform technology to facilitate the development of digital assurance services.

The GFSC will see delegates from a range of backgrounds including government bodies, retailers, manufacturers and academia, all with a common objective to advance food safety globally.
