Energy Institute - ISO 50001 evening lecture

Having undergone  a recent review to ensure the standard meets the needs of an ever changing energy industry, ISO 50001 helps organisations in all sectors to use energy more efficiently, through the development of an energy management system.

About the event

ISO 50001 is undergoing a review and the most important change in the 2018 version is the incorporation of the high-level structure, which provides for improved compatibility with other management system standards.

The evening lecture on 18 September 2018 will hear from Judith Turner, EMS & Energy Technical Manager, LRQA, and Dr Andrew Geens, Head of CIBSE Certification, Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, on the updated ISO 50001 standard. The session will be chaired by Martin FryHonorary President, ESTA, and Visiting Professor at City, University of London.

Judith represents the IIOC's liaison relationship to ISO TC 301 ‘Energy Management’, and was also in attendance to the working group meetings in ISO. She will offer a general overview of the standard and the changes, and discuss from a Certification Body’s point of view and talk about the transition timelines for certification.

Dr Andrew Geens, Head of CIBSE Certification, Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers will present a case study based upon the implantation of ISO 50001 at Kingspan Insulation. The presentation will demonstrate how the standard works across multiple sites as well as examining the pros and cons of ISO 50001 and audits.
