The Omnibus I package – the EU's simplification of its sustainability rules including CSDDD – moved its compliance deadline to July 2029, giving companies more time to prepare. But more time hasn't changed what good due diligence looks like, and our latest survey results suggest many businesses still have the hardest work ahead of them.

The LRQA CSDDD Readiness Index draws on a survey of 34 businesses, conducted in June and July 2026, alongside our consultants' day-to-day experience advising companies on responsible sourcing and human rights due diligence. It shows where companies are on track, where the biggest gaps remain, and what to prioritise between now and 2029.

In this report, you'll discover:

  • Why 72% of in-scope companies are still at the early-awareness or initial-implementation stage
  • How close to two-thirds of companies are not yet looking systematic beyond their direct (Tier 1) suppliers, and the risks that leaves out of view
  • Why fewer than 40% of companies are using collaborative approaches with business partners
  • The barriers holding companies back, from data quality to resourcing, expertise and governance
  • Practical steps to build CSDDD capability now, so you are ready for 2029 in practice and not just on paper
