THE LRQA DIFFERENCE

Why choose LRQA for nuclear?

Seven decades of nuclear assurance

LRQA is the UK’s founding Independent Third-Party Inspection Agency (ITPIA). We have approved nuclear designs and conducted statutory surveys since the 1950s, and remain a named ITPIA today.

Independent and trusted

We are an independent third-party assurance body, holding formal code authority under ASME, PED and KEPIC with proven RCC-M inspection experience on EPR programmes.

Connected, not fragmented

Every solution area works from the same view of your programme, so risks that sit between disciplines don’t fall between providers.

Global reach, local knowledge

Our specialists work in over 70 countries, combining international standards expertise with local market, regulatory and supply chain knowledge.

CODES AND STANDARDS

Four-code nuclear capability

LRQA holds formal code authority under ASME, PED and KEPIC, and delivers RCC-M inspection through established specialist partnerships. Whichever code your components are built to, one partner can assure them.

ASME

Authorised Inspection Agency under ASME - covering N-Stamp and Sections III and XI, with NQA-1 supplier auditing. Required for AP1000 and the majority of global supply chains.

EU PED

Notified Body status for CE marking of pressure equipment on EU-aligned new-build sites. PED covers a plant’s non-nuclear pressure systems; safety-classified equipment is assured under the nuclear codes.

RCC-M

The French PWR mechanical code for EPR programmes. LRQA delivers RCC-M inspection through established specialist partnerships, proven on EPR new-build.

KEPIC

Authorised Agency under KEPIC, Korea’s nuclear code - covering APR1400 domestic and export programmes.

AP1000 · EPR · APR1400 · ABWR · SMR · Fusion - whichever technology your programme selects, LRQA can assure it.

Shaping the industry’s standards

LRQA has been engaged by the World Nuclear Association to help redesign the sustainability checklist that nuclear utilities use across the fuel supply chain. When the industry updates its own frameworks, it turns to LRQA.
