Work has been completed on the changes to the second draft of ISO 45001, the voluntary occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system standard. Last week, ISO/PC 283, the project committee for developing ISO 45001, met in Melaka, Malaysia, to make the final technical changes to the standard. The ISO Central Secretariat will now determine whether it can be published, or if a Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) is needed. In the case of an FDIS, the earliest publication can be expected is March 2018.
“During our meeting in Malaysia, we clarified a number of terms within the standard and addressed the significant issues that had been raised,” explained Steve Williams, System and Governance Manager at LRQA, who is a member of ISO/PC 283.
“We welcome the latest developments to ISO 45001 and the positive impact that it will have around the world.
