LRQA attends this year’s International Paris Air Show to highlight how compliance continues to add strength to global supply chain performance and risk management.

Compliance to a broad range of regulatory and corporate governance programmes continues to be a key priority for Aerospace & Defence businesses. With increasingly complex and global supply networks, compliance can help manage both performance and risk across the supply chain.

Compliance and certification provider, LRQA has a global team of aerospace engineer-qualified assessors who certify businesses against AS9100 – an aerospace-focussed, quality management system standard.

LRQA's global head of aerospace Carl Rogers said: “This year’s International Paris Air Show promises to be a real hub of innovation and we’re looking forward to seeing the latest developments in aviation and space technology. What drives us to attend this show is the same as it’s been for the last 250 years - a continued focus on safety which has never been more important for the industry than it is today.”

The Paris Air Show which takes places this year from 17-23 June in Le Bourget, is the largest event of its type, with 150,000 professionals expected to attend this year. Training and innovation are key areas of focus, with safety, as always, underpinning every new development.

“As we all know, we’re living in a volatile geopolitical and economic environment and this is a huge concern for A&D companies. Having the right safety and quality management programmes in place is crucial for any business operating in this sector,” Carl continues.

“This becomes even more challenging for those businesses with global supply chains – some of the larger planes, for example, require component parts from literally thousands of companies and subcontractors operating all over the world, so managing the performance and quality standards of those chains is difficult. Even with governments in some countries such as the US introducing tax and infrastructure development incentives to encourage re-shoring, we know that supply chains continue to be worldwide for many companies. At LRQA, we work with geographically dispersed businesses to ensure they have the right systems and programmes in place, so they can be confident they are doing what they can to mitigate risk and continually improve.”

Cyber security is another focus for LRQA, which offers businesses risk management certification through ISO 27001.

Carl continues: “Flight safety data is of paramount importance to the aviation industry and with an ever-increasing move to digitisation, the threat of cybersecurity breaches rises significantly. In this industry, this could be life-threatening. It’s vital than airline businesses have the most robust information and cyber security standards in place to give their customers confidence and again, mitigate risk as effectively as possible.”
