BMPA Pork Schemes.
BMPA Pork Schemes offer a range of assurances aimed at pork and pigmeat producers. Through our partnership with BMPA, LRQA provides certification for all five BMPA Pork Scheme modules.
Food, Beverage & Hospitality
Overview
Set up by the British Meat Processors Association, the BMPA Pork Schemes are a suite of assurances aimed at providing quality assurance to retailers and consumers. With five separate assurances, the scheme sets standards for pig welfare, food safety, processing and traceability.
With requirements going beyond basic legislation, it is widely recognised by the UK’s top retailers and foodservice companies. The scheme also provides product-specific assurance on various pig meats.
What are the benefits?
Comprehensive assurance
The BMPA Pork Schemes cover the full production chain. This involves evaluating pig welfare, slaughter and biosecurity, in addition to processing standards for individual product types (i.e. bacon). Successful certification also guarantees provenance and traceability.
Product qualifications
The full certification scheme includes five different modules, including:
- BMPA Pig Welfare, Slaughter and Biosecurity
- BMPA Quality Assured Pork
- BMPA Quality Assured Bacon and Gammon
- BMPA Quality Assured Ham and Cooked Pork
- BMPA Quality Assured Pork Sausage
Assured Food Standards approved
Members of the BMPA Pork Scheme may apply for a license with Assured Food Standards (AFS - widely known as Red Tractor), gaining the right to display their logo on products. This is also supported by consumer marketing and media.
Wider market access
Qualification may allow you to access wider markets through AFS and other food standards bodies that expect BMPA accreditation.
Why choose us?
Experience & expertise
One of the UK’s first providers of farm assurances, LRQA offers specialist support for pork producers. We offer tailored methods of assessing current compliance and comprehensive feedback on improvement areas. We also have longstanding relationship with partner food assurance scheme, Red Tractor Assurance.
Gap analysis
Before you submit your application, our qualified assessors can perform a gap analysis to identify any weaknesses in your system before certification – giving you the chance to discuss any concerns about the assessment or your systems and processes.
Year-round technical support
Members of the BMPA Pork Scheme benefit from year-round technical guidance from our agriculture team, ensuring that your business remains accredited and operates towards the highest possible standards.
Efficiency & savings
Where possible, we will combine audits to save you time and money. BMPA Pork Schemes also offer group discount for businesses with multiple sites and offer significant savings for multi-year contracts. Through our partnership, we can also offer combined audits with BRCGS Food Safety Issue 8 and Red Tractor Meat Processing.
