Verification of the AI management system for the development and provision of search-based agentic AI services against ISO/IEC 42001 requirements.
LRQA has awarded ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification to NAVER for the AI Management System supporting its search-based agentic AI service, ‘AI Tab’.
The certification ceremony took place on 2 November at NAVER 1784 in Seongnam, South Korea, attended by NAVER’s Chief Risk Officer, Bongseok, Yoo, LRQA’s Executive Vice President for Asia Pacific, Fotis Kampouris, and representatives from both organisations.

ISO/IEC 42001: International Standard for Responsible AI Management
ISO/IEC 42001 is an international standard for AI management systems, designed to help organisations systematically identify and manage risks associated with the development and use of AI technologies. It sets out requirements for integrating AI governance into organisational policies and operational processes, supporting responsible management and continual improvement throughout the AI system lifecycle.
As AI evolves beyond generating and analysing information towards agentic AI systems capable of understanding user intent and carrying out tasks, organisations increasingly need a structured approach to managing risks throughout AI development and operation. At the same time, evolving global regulations, including the EU AI Act, are bringing greater clarity to AI governance requirements. This is also increasing the importance of independent assessments against international standards to demonstrate that AI management systems meet established requirements.
NAVER ‘AI Tab’ AI Management System Assessed Against International Standard Requirements
The certification covers the AI Management System supporting AI model development and service delivery for NAVER’s ‘AI Tab’. Through an independent third-party assessment, LRQA evaluated the management system against the requirements of ISO/IEC 42001 and awarded certification.
Fotis Kampouris, LRQA’s Executive Vice President for Asia Pacific, commented:
“AI is evolving beyond a tool for generating information into technology capable of making decisions and carrying out tasks autonomously. As AI becomes increasingly integrated into search services used by millions of people every day, it is important to manage not only technical performance but also the potential impact on users and associated risks.
This certification is significant because it independently confirms that the AI Management System NAVER has established for the development and delivery of AI Tab meets the requirements of the international standard. As AI technology continues to advance rapidly, international standards and independent verification will play an important role in helping organisations establish responsible AI management practices and build trust.”
