LRQA to deliver ISO 27001 certification services in China.

After a rigorous audit process, LRQA, a member of the LRQA Group, has been approved by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) to deliver Information Security Management System (ISMS) standard ISO 27001:2013 certification services in mainland China.

Information security has become a growing priority for many organisations and information security management systems have become a powerful tool to address the risks. ISO 27001 certification enables organisations to demonstrate their ability to safely manage data relating to customers, partners, supply chains, and other key stakeholders.

Commenting on this latest approval, Rhett Wang, General Manager of LRQA Greater China, said: "We are very pleased to be approved by CNCA to deliver ISO 27001 related services to our clients. We are confident that management systems certification will help clients to gain competitive advantage in the field of information security.”

In related news and as an indication of the global relevance and importance of information security, the European Commission has announced plans for an EU cybersecurity certification framework for ICT products and services. Certification plays an important role in building confidence in the security of products and services and this framework will ensure consistency across EU Member States, while respecting local requirements.

The scheme will be voluntary but could deliver a significant competitive advantage for organisations that embrace ‘cybersecurity by design’ and use certification to demonstrate compliance. Duane Wood, Marketing Director at LRQA, commented: “We welcome the development of the EU cybersecurity certification framework as a tool to reduce the risks to organisations and individuals. We believe that this initiative will further support the critical role that independent assurance can play in mitigating the risks and threats that new technologies and their applications bring.”

Please note that as of January 2018, we have moved to the LRQA brand and retired the LRQA name.
