Utility services company first to be accredited to new UK water industry scheme.

Following the launch of the Water Industry Registration Scheme - Accredited Entity (WIRSAE), LRQA has awarded the scheme's first accreditation.

Following the launch of the Water Industry Registration Scheme – Accredited Entity (WIRSAE) in January 2018, LRQA has awarded the scheme's first accreditation to Engage Services Ltd, a utility services company serving the UK's domestic and non-domestic water market.

The accreditation means that Engage Services Ltd, a specialist field visit agency, can now carry out temporary disconnections and reconnections for water meters up to 40mm in the non-domestic water sector direct for water retailers

Michael Wolfenden, Commercial Director for Engage said: "We are really excited and proud to be the first company to achieve WIRSAE. This makes all the hard work of the last six months worthwhile and opens up further opportunities to us in the marketplace".

Accredited Entities (AE) was introduced as part of the Wholesale Retail Code by the Open Water Programme. The scheme authorises qualified entities such as Engage Services Ltd to perform certain activities such as temporary disconnections/reconnections, meter installation and permanent disconnections to non-domestic properties on behalf of the Retailer. This is as an alternative to the Wholesaler carrying out those activities.

Engage Ltd received their certificate at the first WIRSAE Advisory Panel (AP) meeting. The AP is the governing body for the scheme and is made up of WIRSAE Providers, Retailers, Wholesalers and LR.
