LRQA strengthens social compliance auditing with APSCA membership.

Leading professional services organisation, LRQA, has joined the Association of Professional Social Compliance Auditors (APSCA).

Leading professional services organisation, LRQA, has joined the Association of Professional Social Compliance Auditors (APSCA). Formed in 2015, APSCA aims to enhance the professionalism, consistency and credibility of individual auditors and organisations performing social compliance audits. It also focuses on promoting the use of independent social compliance audits as a tool to advance workplace conditions for workers globally.

With global supply chains now commonplace, demand for social compliance audits is growing. This is driven by multinational organisations that are looking to assess their supply chain compliance to local and international guidelines on labour conditions. APSCA is practitioner led and was formed to meet these industry requirements. LRQA will work in conjunction with other APSCA members to improve the quality and consistency of social compliance audits.

LRQA VP Food and Beverage, Vincent Doumeizel, commented: “APSCA is a historic initiative gathering for the first time all stakeholders, from brands and retailers to scheme owners and certification bodies, to agree on a common approach to increase the credibility and professionalism of the organisations performing social compliance audits. Labour issues, poor working conditions, child labour & modern slavery are impacting supply chains around the world and it is our duty to work together to eradicate them. These objectives meet with the values of our Group and are fully aligned with the charitable objectives of our sole shareholder, the LRQA Foundation.  We now all stand together and as a group will contribute as much as we can to increase social conditions on the planet”
