Building on the fundamentals of ISO 9001 with additional automotive-specific requirements, the standard embeds safety, security, and sustainability across the dynamic automotive supply chain. Certification to the globally recognised IATF 16949 standard helps organizations overcome the challenges associated with changing consumer attitudes, reduce wastage and operational costs, and win larger deals and global sourcing contracts.
IATF 16949 6th Edition Rules were published published 31 March, 2024. These new rules will become effective on January 1, 2025, replacing the previous 5th Edition. This update does not change the IATF 16949:2016 standard itself but modifies the guidelines for audits and certification procedures. Check out our FAQs to find out more.
Aftermarket replacement parts are now in scope for IATF 16949
New IATF sanctioned interpretations confirm eligibility for aftermarket-only manufacturers and mandate inclusion of aftermarket activities for mixed OEM sites by 1 January 2028. These changes have real audit and planning implications.
