A supplier installs rooftop solar, replaces a coal boiler with a heat pump and tightens its compressed-air system. Its facility emissions fall measurably. Yet when its customers publish their next Scope 3 inventory, nothing has changed. On Tuesday 10 November 2026, RESET Carbon, an LRQA company, and Made2Flow will host a free 60-minute webinar on why this happens and how to make supplier progress count.
As an assurance provider, LRQA sees this challenge from the verification side: buyers want to recognise supplier action, but need evidence that a reported reduction is real and traceable to what they purchase. This session, the first in a joint webinar series, takes a practical look at closing that gap.
Date and time: Tuesday 10 November 2026 · 10:00 a.m. ET / 3:00 p.m. GMT / 4:00 p.m. CET
Format: 60 minutes · Online (Microsoft Teams) · Free to attend

Who should attend
Sustainability and climate leads responsible for Scope 3 inventories and targets, sourcing and procurement teams running supplier engagement programmes, reporting and assurance specialists, and suppliers who want their decarbonisation investments recognised by customers.
Background: why supplier reductions go missing from Scope 3 reports
Real reductions happen on the factory floor, but buyers’ reporting methods are often unable to see them. The timing makes this harder to ignore. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Corporate Net-Zero Standard Version 2 is increasing scrutiny of how companies set and track Scope 3 targets, and the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol is revising its Scope 3 guidance. Both point to the same expectation: supplier engagement must translate into progress that can be measured and reported.
For suppliers, the stakes are commercial. If renewable energy, efficiency and fuel-switching investments never register with their customers, the business case for the next investment weakens. Buyers who cannot recognise supplier action risk discouraging the very behaviour their targets depend on.
Most Scope 3 purchased-goods inventories rely on one of three approaches: spend-based estimates, average-data methods, or supplier-specific data. Each can miss physical change at a facility, for different reasons:
- Data is too coarse. Spend-based and average-data methods apply sector or material emission factors. A supplier that cuts its own emissions still looks like the industry average.
- Allocation blurs the signal. Even with supplier-specific data, facility emissions must be split across many customers and products. Allocation choices can dilute or hide one site's improvement.
- Reductions are hard to verify and trace. Without credible evidence linking a facility's improvement to the goods a buyer purchased, many companies are reluctant to claim it.
Closing the gap: data, method and verification together
No single fix solves the problem. Capturing supplier progress in Scope 3 reporting takes three things working together:
- Data infrastructure that collects primary, facility-level energy and emissions data and links it to product flows.
- Methodological rigour in how facility emissions are allocated to customers and products, consistent with GHG Protocol and SBTi expectations.
- Verification that gives buyers, suppliers and auditors confidence that a reported reduction is real.
This is the focus of the partnership between RESET Carbon and Made2Flow. RESET Carbon brings supplier decarbonisation assessment and Scope 3 methodology expertise; Made2Flow’s platform provides the facility-level data layer and traceability. Read more about the partnership.
The webinar will walk through how this works in practice. Register now. It’s free, and registrants who can’t join live will receive the recording.
How LRQA can help
