On 1st April 2022, The Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) has successfully achieved ISO 19650 certification for their Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and strategy.

LTA has been awarded the BIM Certification according to ISO 19650 Part 1, 2, 3 and 5 by LRQA Singapore. Other than RTA Dubai, LTA is the only other government agency / regulator in the world which has achieved ISO 19650 certification. The certificate has been handed over to LTA, celebrating the excellent achievement of the involved teams.

BIM has been an important aspect in the building and infrastructure sector and is identified as an enabler that will revolutionise how asset information can be managed from the conceptual stage, design & build, operational and decommissioning.

BIM is a process for creating and managing design and engineering information for building and infrastructure projects across the project lifecycle. The key digital deliverables are the information rich BIM models capturing essential asset information, sheet(drawings), spatial data etc. that are produced collaboratively and updated regularly throughout the entire life cycle of the project. A digital BIM model will enable delivery teams to be more productive and create greater value to the projects throughout the entire life-cycle from design, build and operations and maintenance.

The certification, based on the International Standards Organisation (ISO) standard and soon to be accredited by UKAS, demonstrates LTA’s compliance with the highest BIM standards in projects.

We will continue to ensure that our system and processes, including our existing collaboration platform (InSIGHT), remains closely aligned to the ISO 19650 guidelines.
Deputy Director of Infrastructure Digitalisation Techno-Environment, Land Transport Authority Mr Samuel Teo

Mr Samuel Teo, Deputy Director of Infrastructure Digitalisation Techno-Environment, Land Transport Authority said, “It was a challenging but truly rewarding journey to obtain the ISO 19650 certification for LTA, as this would greatly enhance the organisation and management of our project delivery and information exchange.  We will continue to ensure that our system and processes, including our existing collaboration platform (InSIGHT), remains closely aligned to the ISO 19650 guidelines.

The collaborative effort will surely bring long-term benefits to LTA. We look forward to working closely with Singapore Govt. on more such projects
Managing Director – Inspection Services, LRQA Fotis Kampouris

Mr. Fotis Kampouris, Managing Director – Inspection Services, LRQA, said “It was a pleasure for LRQA to work with Land Transport Authority (LTA) to achieve in this case its BIM-ISO 19650 certification. Their dedication and expertise coupled with the ISO 19650 guidelines will have a lasting positive impact on current and future projects. The collaborative effort will surely bring long term benefits to LTA. We look forward to working closely with Singapore Govt. on more such projects.”
