New requirements announced for FSSC 22000 v 4.1.

These requirements relate to specific food chain (sub) categories so will only be relevant to certain businesses. For some companies, these topics may already be included in existing food safety systems. You can find out more information in our Client Information Note ‘FSSC additional requirements as of January 2019’.

The standard will soon be renewed in its entirety, with FSSC 22000 version 5 due to be published in May 2019. The new version will include the ISO 22000:2018 standard.
Please note:
• LRQA will not carry out assessments against FSSC 22000 version 5 any earlier than 1 January 2020. This gives you time to implement the new requirements.
• Audits against the current version (version 4.1 including new additional requirements) shall be carried out up to 31 December 2019.
• The transition period, meaning the period in which you shall transition to version 5 to remain FSSC 22000 certified, runs from 1 January 2020 until 31 December 2020.
• All issued FSSC 22000 v 4.1 certificates will become invalid after 29 June 2021.
