LRQA partners with AIUC-1 to pilot world’s first AI agent standard

Advancing responsible AI agent assurance

LRQA’s commitment to enhancing responsible AI use across the global supply chain has been reinforced through a new partnership with AIUC-1, the AI agent security, safety and reliability standard.

AIUC-1 was developed by the Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company in partnership with trusted institutions like Orrick, MITRE, Stanford, MIT, and CSA and based on feedback from 100+ enterprise risk leaders such as CISOs from Google Cloud and MongoDB. The standard operationalises principles found across high-level frameworks like NIST’s AI RMF, ISO 42001, the EU AI Act, and MITRE’s ATLAS.

AIUC-1 enables enterprises to adopt AI agents with confidence. The standard is built across 6 principles, covering real-world AI risks and failures including jailbreaks, prompt injections and hallucinations. Certified organisations subject their AI agents to a rigorous audit of their policies, controls, and technical safeguards - including 1000s of adversarial simulations every quarter.

Early adopters include AI leaders such as UiPath, Intercom and ElevenLabs, which recently announced the world’s first insurance policy for AI voice agents, unlocked by AIUC-1 certification.

How LRQA can support

As part of LRQA’s expanding portfolio of AI related assessment and assurance services, we are committed to driving early adoption of AIUC-1 and are seeking organisations with specific challenges in this space to join us as pilot clients. Early participants will benefit from first mover advantage, the opportunity to shape future best practice and enhanced credentials in responsible AI deployment.

“AI might be at an early stage in its deployment, but that does not mean businesses should be slow to address the challenges from the start,” said Kevin Franklin, Chief Product Officer at LRQA. “We are very excited about the potential of AIUC-1 to address some of the biggest challenges in AI agent adoption and responsible use, and this is a fantastic opportunity for cutting edge businesses to show real leadership through a dedicated pilot and ongoing assessment. AIUC-1, together with our recent accreditation for ISO/IEC 42001 Artificial Intelligence Management Systems, provides a powerful framework to strengthen transparency, governance and trust across global supply chains.”

"Over 95% of enterprise AI pilots fail to reach production, with legal and security concerns the primary barrier," said Rajiv Dattani, co-founder of the Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company. "AIUC-1 was built to close that gap - giving enterprises the technical proof and financial protection they need to move from pilot to deployment with confidence. LRQA's assurance expertise makes them an ideal partner to bring the standard to organisations navigating AI adoption at scale."

This collaboration marks another step in LRQA’s mission to support organisations in adopting AI technologies safely, responsibly and with confidence. As AI plays a growing role in digital transformation across industries, LRQA will continue to invest in services that help clients navigate complexity and stay ahead of emerging standards.
