LRQA accredited to deliver certification to new automotive standard.

LRQA has been granted accreditation to the revised IATF 16949:2016 Automotive Quality Management System (QMS) Standard.

Published in October 2016, IATF 16949:2016 replaces the current ISO/TS 16949:2009. It follows the same structure as ISO 9001:2015, with the automotive requirements being additional to the core requirements of ISO 9001:2015, and provides essential sector specific revisions designed to encourage industry-wide continual improvement.

Organisations currently certified to ISO/TS 16949:2009 are required to successfully transition to the revised standard by September 2018 - transition audits will be carried out in line with the organisation's current scheduled recertification or surveillance audit. After October 2017 all audits must be conducted to IATF 16949:2016 and any organisations seeking initial certification will need to use the revised standard.

Kevin How, Automotive Technical Manager at LRQA commented: "The publication of IATF 16949:2016 is a game changer in the world of management system auditing because it raises the bar regarding expectations for audits to reflect systemic weaknesses that affect performance, thereby leading to continual improvement for the many thousands of organisations within the automotive sector. This achievement is a significant milestone which marks the start of LRQA providing accredited certification to IATF 16949:2016, in addition to a range of associated training courses, to our many automotive clients around the world."

With some of the world's leading standards being revised, LRQA is at the forefront of communicating the changes. We offer a range of assessment and training services, all aimed at helping to ensure that organisations worldwide have a smooth transition to the new standards.

Please note that as of January 2018, we have moved to the LRQA brand and retired the LRQA name.
