Katoni achieves ISO 45001 certification

Katoni, an independent oil and gas focused engineering company specialising in Brownfield modifications, engineering, design, procurement, installation and commissioning is the first organisation in the UK to achieve ISO 45001:2018 certification with LRQA.

Katoni successfully achieved certification to the international occupational health and safety management system standard, ISO 45001, straight after LRQA became one of the first certification bodies to be awarded global accreditation for ISO 45001 by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

Katoni has been an LRQA client since 2015 and has proven their commitment to quality and environmental excellence by previously gaining certification to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Their early migration to ISO 45001 reinforces their commitment to continual improvement across their company.

ISO 45001 provides a framework for managing occupational health and safety risks and opportunities, preventing work-related injuries and places greater emphasis on top management involvement and employee participation to make workplaces safer and healthier. For Katoni, achieving ISO 45001 was the best way to demonstrate their relentless push to learn, improve and engage their employees, as the mental health and well-being of their staff is a key priority as part of their organisational ethos.

John Maclean, Managing Director at Katoni Engineering said, “Achieving the new standard is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to QHSE. The process was led by our staff and we’re serious about continually improving our Occupational Health and Safety environment. We believe our focus on factors such as social and mental well-being is central to be a successful business. Being one of the first in the UK&I to transition to 45001 with LRQA hopefully shows to our stakeholders and clients that we don’t need to be a large company to be industry-leading”.

David Derrick, UK&I Area Operations Manager at LRQA comments, "I am really pleased that we have been able to support Katoni on their journey to a successful migration. Like LRQA, Katoni places the utmost importance on health & safety and employee wellbeing. The fact that they are a small organisation makes this accredited certification even more valuable”.
