Introduction
Steve Gibbons is Head of UK & Ireland Advisory at LRQA. With over 25 years of experience in labour and human rights, Steve advises global organisations on practical strategies to embed human rights into business operations. He has worked in more than 25 countries and across sectors including sports, mining, retail, agribusiness, finance, pharmaceuticals, hospitality and global supply chains.
Biography
Steve leads LRQA’s UK & Ireland Advisory team, helping clients navigate complex human rights challenges and align with legislative requirements such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and national modern slavery laws. His expertise includes designing and implementing human rights due diligence frameworks, developing and managing grievance mechanisms, and creating innovative training and learning programmes. Steve is also highly experienced in facilitating strategic dialogues and engaging senior leaders to build organisational understanding of human rights responsibilities.
As a co-founder of Ergon, which became part of LRQA in 2024, Steve has consulted for major international organisations including the International Labour Organization (ILO), World Bank Group, FIFA, the European Commission and leading multinational companies. His work spans practical implementation, policy development and capacity-building, ensuring businesses can meet global standards and stakeholder expectations.
Before co-founding Ergon, Steve was Head of Employment Law at Incomes Data Services, the UK’s largest labour relations research centre. He is a UK-qualified lawyer, holding an LLB (Hons) from the University of Nottingham and completed his Bar Finals at the Inns of Court School of Law.
