Introduction
Matthew is an Associate Director in LRQA’s Advisory team, specialising in human rights due diligence, labour rights and responsible business practices. Matthew has delivered projects for clients across sectors including agriculture, sports, construction and garments. He combines strategic advisory with practical implementation, helping organisations address complex human rights challenges.
Biography
Matthew led projects for major international clients, with a particular focus on remedy of human rights impacts, prevention of abuses in global supply chains, responsible recruitment and the rights of migrant workers, as well as safeguarding workers in sub-contracted services and activities, including management and stakeholder engagement. He has designed guidance resources and tools to strengthen corporate human rights management systems and improve due diligence processes. Matthew regularly advises clients on integrating international standards into business practices and building internal capacity for implementation.
Matthew joined LRQA when Ergon Associates became a part of the business. Matthew has previously worked in Punjab, India, addressing issues such as bonded labour, discrimination and migration. As a volunteer with International Alert, Matthew contributed to the development of a conflict-sensitive employment framework for the private sector. He also brings experience from local government and the retail sector.
Matthew holds an MA in Human Rights from University College London and a BA in Politics and Modern History from the University of Manchester.
