Introduction
Laura Fernández Álvarez is a Senior Consultant in LRQA’s Advisory team, bringing legal expertise and extensive experience in human rights, project management and capacity-building. Laura works with corporate clients and development finance institutions to strengthen human rights due diligence and advance gender equality across global operations and supply chains.
Biography
Laura joined LRQA’s Advisory team when Ergon Associates integrated into the business. She advises clients on developing human rights policies and due diligence strategies, conducting global supply chain risk, saliency and impact assessments in sectors such as FMCG, retail and food, and building internal capacity through training on topics such as gender equality. She has led projects that support the integration of human rights considerations into business practices and regularly facilitates workshops for diverse stakeholders.
Her consultancy experience includes research and strategic advice to companies across multiple industries on ESG issues and human rights. Prior to her current role, Laura was a Corporate Legal Accountability Fellow at the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC) and held senior roles at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), including Legal Officer, Head of Rule of Law and Consultant.
Laura holds a U.S. law degree and is admitted to practice in New York. She earned both her BS and JD degrees at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and speaks English, Spanish and Serbo-Croatian.
