Jeff Wheeler is director of ELEVATE’s Global Trace Protocol (GTP) project, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB). He has decades of experience in international and comparative labor and employment law and relations and its role in development, trade, and diplomacy.
Biography
Jeff Wheeler is director of ELEVATE’s Global Trace Protocol (GTP) project, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB). He has decades of experience in international and comparative labor and employment law and relations and its role in development, trade, and diplomacy.
Jeff has managed labor-related development programs around the world and provided direct assistance on law and administrative reform as well as worker and employer organization capacity building. He has also helped integrate labor, OSH and responsible mineral sourcing criteria into global supply chains standards. He has taught at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and formerly served as Senior Labor Advisor at USAID, International Relations Officer at ILAB, Chief Technical Advisor of an ILO project in Southern Africa, an attorney in private practice and for the AFL-CIO, and as a consultant on numerous development projects.
Qualifications
He has a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a B.A. in political science from the University of South Carolina. He is a member the D.C. bar and state of Georgia bar.
