Introduction
EURIA is a Mexican company based in Guadalajara, Jalisco, specialized in project management in design and construction phase, which since its founding in 2011 has sought to transform the construction industry through certainty, technical leadership and responsibility. With a multidisciplinary team of 10 professionals and a solid ethic based on structured project management through methodologies such as BIM (Building Information Modeling), EURIA has positioned itself as a technical-operational reference in the sector.
In 2024, EURIA became the first company in the Americas to obtain ISO 19650 certification, validating its focus on information management throughout the real estate asset lifecycle and cementing its promise to deliver projects without improvisation, cost overruns or ambiguity.
Challenge
In an environment where lack of traceability, cost overruns and improvisation remain common, EURIA identified the need to further professionalize their processes and differentiate themselves in an increasingly competitive market. Although already operating with BIM methodologies, the organization needed a regulatory framework that would ensure operational consistency, regardless of team or project, while reinforcing client confidence in their technical deliverables.
Internally, the challenge was to transform their practical experience into an auditable, replicable information management system aligned with the highest international standards.
Expectations
EURIA was not only looking for a symbolic certification, but a structural change. The expectations were clear:
- Translate its discipline and experience into a certified system.
- Consolidate a measurable competitive advantage over other firms in the sector.
- Anticipate customer demands in traceability, governance and information control.
- Position itself as a leader in BIM management in Mexico and Latin America.
- Implement an operating system capable of reducing risks, errors and construction times.
In addition, EURIA expected this certification to help its clients (mainly developers and investors) to make better informed decisions with lower margins of error.
How LRQA helped with the ISO 19650 standard
LRQA was chosen as the certifying body because of its international reputation and proven expertise in ISO 19650. Through a GAP Analysis, LRQA enabled EURIA to objectively understand its level of information management maturity and establish a clear implementation plan.
LRQA's support —especially from its representatives Ramón and Edwin-was crucial during the process. Although there were initial challenges, such as delays and communication difficulties, the LRQA team was able to provide technical direction, methodological clarity and a concrete improvement path.
The entire process, from the GAP Analysis to the final audit, took about a year and allowed EURIA to obtain a double certification:
- As an Appointing Party: validating their ability to represent the client's interests in the management of project information.
- As Lead Appointed Party: certifying their ability to coordinate, generate and deliver the information required by the client.
Results
The implementation of ISO 19650 completely transformed EURIA's operation:
- Real cost savings of 10% were achieved in one of its certified projects, compared to other similar projects where this standard was not applied.
- Traceability and internal collaboration were strengthened, improving alignment between areas and control over deliverables.
- Each team member better understood his or her role, fostering a culture of responsibility and prevention.
- Externally, the certification opened new business opportunities and positioned EURIA as a leader in BIM management with international standards.
- The company was invited to share its expertise in industry forums and conferences, raising its profile in the industry.
For EURIA, ISO 19650 was not a marketing objective, but a strategic decision that further professionalized its operation and generated tangible value for its clients and its team.
