Kinetic Pressure Control: Providing blowout-stopping technology.

Kinetic is a US-based company, focused on subsea technology for the oil and gas industry. Our client was in the process of introducing a novel technology to the challenging, well control market. Here, there is no margin for error. The company’s Kinetic Blowout Stopper (K-BOS) aims to improve shearing and sealing capabilities. The solution uses propellants and a patent pending kinetic shearing technology to shear tool joints, large diameter casings and bottom hole assemblies. This allows for safer drilling for offshore wells.

Kinetic needed to demonstrate to various stakeholders that any uncertainties associated with the technology were mitigated in a systematic manner.

We provided third-party technology qualification services for the K-BOS. This support included:

• a technology qualification workshop

• a technology assessment, enabling Kinetic to develop a comprehensive technology qualification plan, which was then reviewed and approved by us

• a statement of endorsement of the K-BOS technology qualification plan, following satisfactory assessment.
