Published by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) on 1 October 2016, the 16949 standard guarantees automotive quality, reduced product variation and unnecessary waste throughout the length of the supply chain.

Transition from ISO/TS 16949
The IATF 16949:2016 replaced the ISO/TS 16949 as an international standard for automotive quality management system, when it was published in October 2016. It adopts a customer-centric approach to help manufacturers quickly recognise automotive quality by addressing customer-specific requirements.
