Welder performance qualification
Welder performance qualifications follow a similar approach to weld procedure qualifications, with approval ranges based on materials, consumables, welding processes, and positions. These tests are designed to demonstrate a welder’s ability to produce a sound and reliable weld.
As a result, the approved ranges and parameters can differ significantly from those defined in procedure qualifications for the same conditions. Each standard applies its own criteria, which can lead to notable variations in approval ranges when comparing different standards using the same test specimen.
