The FDA has revised its 2017 advice on fish consumption for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and young children, to help ensure that they consume the recommended amounts of seafood.
The updated advice is based on the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and focuses on informing the target populations of the health benefits of fish consumption as well as explaining which fish are safe to eat.
In particular, the updated advice addresses consumer concerns over mercury levels in various types of fish.
