ISO/IEC 17024:2012 is the international standard that sets out the principles and requirements for bodies certifying persons against specific requirements and includes the development and maintenance of a certification scheme for persons.
Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17024:2012 shows that LRQA takes a rigorous and independent approach to conformity assessment, so that our clients and their stakeholders can have confidence in the capabilities of their certified personnel. As well as UKAS accreditation, LRQA is also accredited by the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) to ISO/IEC 17024 for the certification of NDT and joining personnel for PED.
From 16 April 2023, it will be a legal requirement for manufacturers or operators of pressure equipment that need to comply with the pressure equipment directive (PED) or the pressure equipment safety regulations (PESR), to be suitably qualified by a Notified Body (NoBo) or Recognised Third-Party Organization (RTPO), accredited to ISO/IEC 17024.
Speaking about the accreditation, Andrew Nutter, UK&I Service Delivery Manager said: “Being UKAS accredited gives organizations confidence that LRQA and our surveyors have been independently verified to deliver these services, whilst our clients will be able to demonstrate that their personnel meet the mandatory requirements and work to the highest standards of quality and safety.”
LRQA provides a range of services for pressure equipment manufacturers and our technical experts can provide first-hand insights into the complex world of requirements.
