Understanding EN 10204 Type 3.2 Certification

Material certification requirements, decoded.

We'll help you understand a commonly misunderstood standard.

More and more, companies are requiring traceability and visibility into the origins of steel and other materials for safety-critical equipment.

Due to the aggressive environments and elevated pressures and temperatures they're expected to perform in, the risk of steel not performing is too high to chance.

That's where the standard EN 10204 comes into play. EN 10204 is an inspection documentation standard, but many manufacturers don't understand its full safety impact, particularly that of the standard's type 3.2 certification.

LRQA has put together this document to help explain type 3.2 and what is and isn't allowed.
