Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive

The TPED looks at the transportable pressure equipment approved for the inland transport of dangerous goods by road and rail within the European Economic Area market.

The TPED applies to you if you design or manufacture certain types of transportable pressure equipment approved for the inland transport of dangerous goods by road and rail and you want to place this equipment on the market within the European Economic Area.

What does the directive cover?
The TPED refers applies to all receptacles (eg cylinders, bundles of cylinders, tubes, pressure drums, cryogenic receptacles) and tanks (eg demountable tanks, tank containers, tanks of tank vehicles, portable tanks, tanks of tank wagons, tanks of battery wagons) used for ADR Class 2 gases and for listed dangerous substances of other classes, including their valves and other accessories.
The Directives states which equipment requires examination by a notified body and states the risk category for the type of equipment.
