LRQA ISO Standards Update: ISO/TS 16949 revision progress in Rome

During April, the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) held a stakeholder conference in Rome which was attended by representatives of almost 100 recognised certification bodies, supplier organisations and IATF member organisations to review the first revision of International automotive quality standard ISO/TS 16949.

Over the course of the meeting, the proposed transition plan for organisations currently certified to ISO/TS 16949:2009 was also subject to review.

Ahead of the anticipated release of the revised standard in Q3 2016, the IATF will be reviewing all of the feedback received against the first draft and proposed transition plan before selecting supplier sites for pilot gap assessments.

For organisations currently certified to ISO/TS 16949, the transition period is expected to begin in 2017 and, in line with the transition deadline for ISO 9001:2015, will conclude in September 2018.

More information about the IATF conference can be found on the IATF Global Oversight website and further information about ISO/TS 16949 can be found on the LRQA website. The outline transition plan can be viewed here.

With all the major ISO standards being revised, LRQA is at the forefront of communicating the changes. We offer a range of assessment services as well public and in-house training courses, all aimed at helping to ensure that organisations worldwide have a smooth transition to the new standards.
