Leading electronics company Avnet Asia recently embarked on an energy-saving plan, driven by rising energy costs from new premises. Avnet Asia's energy management strategy involved hiring Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), who recently certified Avnet Asia to the international energy management system standard ISO 50001. When the company embarked on its energy programme, it planned to reduce its utilities bill by at least 23 per cent. It has already met that target, and hopes to improve further.
