LRQA Leads Supply Chain Risk Debate at SCL Europe Conference

Supplychain_lockandchainLloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) presented Supply Chain Risk - The Big Debate at the World Trade Group's 10th Annual Supply Chain and Logistics Europe Summit in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The interactive workshop focussed on the supply chain risks of a fictitious client, Pure and Simple (P + S) Organic Foods. The delegates were supply chain directors and managers from across Europe.

The four key areas covered in the workshop were: Food Safety, Environment, Security and Product Conformity. LRQA's technical experts in these four areas each presented the key risks and potential solutions that LRQA offers.

After the workshop, the delegates voted on the key supply chain risk as they saw it. 83% of the attending delegates voted Food Safety as the most important risk for P + S. Cor Groenveld, LRQA's Food Safety Expert, stated, "Of course, food safety is the most important risk for any food company. Yet, for any global company to truly minimise their supply chain risks, an integrated approach that identifies and controls all of their potential risks is the best solution."

Further voting was conducted on the most important issues the delegates faced in their businesses. 66% of the delegates chose lead times as the single most business critical issue to their supply chain. LRQA's technical experts then led a discussion on lead times as a critical business issue for today's global supply chains. The final question posed to the delegates was the level of decision making regarding supply chain issues within their organisation. 67% of the audience stated that supply chain was a boardroom agenda in their organisation.
